Maxorb Extra Ag+ Silver Alginate Dressing represents the next generation in advanced wound care technology. This highly absorbent, nonwoven pad is expertly composed of calcium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), and ionic silver to deliver superior exudate management combined with powerful antimicrobial protection. Engineered for moderate to heavily exuding partial and full-thickness wounds, this dressing provides clinicians and patients with a reliable, biocompatible solution that promotes optimal healing conditions.
When the dressing comes into contact with wound exudate, the silver component dissolves and initiates a controlled release of silver ions directly into the wound bed. This smart-release mechanism ensures that as more fluid is absorbed throughout the wear time, additional silver ions are continuously released, creating a sustained antimicrobial effect that actively combats bacterial colonization. The controlled-release formula delivers silver in extremely small, therapeutic amounts that effectively inhibit bacterial growth without damaging healthy tissue or disrupting the natural healing process.
The unique combination of CMC and calcium alginate fibers creates an exceptionally absorbent matrix that locks away excess exudate while maintaining an ideal moist wound environment. This dual-action approach significantly reduces the risk of periwound skin maceration by preventing moisture from spreading beyond the wound margins, protecting the surrounding healthy skin. The dressing's high fluid-handling capacity means fewer dressing changes, improved patient comfort, and reduced overall treatment costs.
Ideal for managing moderate to heavily exuding partial-thickness and full-thickness wounds including pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, donor sites, traumatic wounds, and surgical wounds where antimicrobial protection is desired.
Gently remove both the secondary dressing and the Maxorb Extra Ag+ dressing from the wound bed. If the dressing has dried or adhered to the wound, it may be moistened with sterile saline to facilitate atraumatic removal and enhance patient comfort.
Dressing change intervals should be determined based on the individual wound assessment, exudate volume, and clinical judgment. The dressing may be left in place for up to seven days, though more frequent changes may be necessary for heavily exuding wounds or as wound conditions evolve.
Manufactured to the highest quality standards, this product is FSA/HSA eligible, making it an accessible choice for patients managing wound care costs. The latex-free formulation ensures broad patient compatibility across diverse clinical settings.
