Application Instructions:

2. Align the dressing precisely at the base of the heel and apply the adherent portion smoothly to the posterior heel or Achilles tendon region.
3. Remove the backing material from the top left and right ankle lobes, then apply with gentle pressure and smooth to ensure proper adhesion.
4. Remove the backing from the bottom flaps and smooth upward in the direction of the malleolus for secure placement.
5. Press and smooth the entire dressing surface to ensure complete skin contact and optimal adherence across all contact points.
6. For routine skin checks and assessments, gently lift the bottom flaps toward the Achilles tendon until sufficient skin is exposed for thorough inspection without fully removing the dressing.

Removal Procedure:

1. Gently lift the bottom flaps to gradually release the dressing from the skin surface.
2. Carefully remove the flaps covering the ankle lobes with minimal tension.
3. Continue gently lifting and peeling until the dressing is completely removed from the heel area.

Change Frequency Guidelines:

The Optifoam Gentle Heel dressing should be changed when visible drainage reaches the outer edges of the foam pad or when clinically indicated. Under normal conditions with appropriate exudate levels, the dressing may remain securely in place for up to 7 days, reducing the frequency of dressing changes and minimizing skin trauma.

Important Usage Notes:

Do not cut or modify the dressing as this may compromise the waterproof seal and absorbent properties. The dressing is latex-free and FSA/HSA eligible for convenient reimbursement.
